Mimi's Way

About

HELLO THERE! …WELCOME

It is a pleasure to have you visit this blog. You are most welcome. Mimi’s Way is a lifestyle blog targeted at sprouting your ideal self through inspirational, motivational yet challenging and transforming articles; all the while sharing life experiences with you.

The Dream...

Mimi’s Way was birth as a result of a life long dream. Growing up, there were times when I wanted to know that I wasn’t the only one. There were times when I wanted to be assured that I got this (kikiki whatever this was). And then there were also those times that I call gem moments when people touched me in ways unimaginable and in those rare gem moments I found myself seeking to cause others such moments too.

For so long I resulted to being the class clown or a comic relief in hopes that I could in some way bring if not permanent at least a temporal relief (a de-stressor) to whoever I came across. Going that path, I was able to gather(and still gathering) a cornucopia of experience on finessing issues, difficulties, qualm and squabbles and as time went on I realized in what small ways I was being impactful.
And so this is me and my team spreading out our tentacles to reach near and far to make you realize the extraordinary special person that you are.

The Name...

Why Mimi’s Way? The word ‘Mimi‘ if not obvious is a derivative of my actual name ‘Mariam‘. However to me it holds a not so subtle resemblance to another word ‘mimic‘ which translates as a close imitation. Also the two ‘M’s each conveys the flower ‘Malva/Mallow’ and the color ‘Mauve’ which are the presence of this blog.
Mimi’s Way can thus be deciphered as a close imitation of ways to live ideally taping into your fullest capabilities to produce a longevity of love, health and protection.

I met Mimi at a time when I needed her kind of presence in my life and she didn’t disappoint. Her advice, encouragement, personality, and even jokes have brought about some of the most uplifting moments in my life. I am glad she is willing to share that and this blog is as impactful as her. Whomever reads will share in that. I am sure of it!!!

As a friend Mimi is stubborn, hot-headed and strong willed, attributes which usually cause us to have friendly happy banters. But that not withstanding, her abilities and professionalism puts her firmly into the top echelon of writers. She offers an elusive combination of technical writing coupled with creative flair and reliability that can be hard to find these days. It is with satisfaction that I say boss on kiddo!

So I have been with Mimi through our training years till now and when she told me about this I wasn't surprised. She is almost always reading, writing or conjuring something. She would make up the weirdest timelines and her narration is explicit. They made her fun to be with but I have come to fully appreciate those qualities now through this blog and I know whoever reads will too.

I have known Mimi for quite some years now. She was just a 'school mate' at first but as time went on we were able to build a relationship. She became a colleague and a partner who was there through thick and thin. She is hilarious and the least amount of time spent with her would have you laughing. With her, there is nothing like a bad day. She turns everything into bliss causing the people around her pure joy. However, despite her comic relief-like personality, she is outspoken, motivational and inspirational too. She loves finding out more about everything and thus is learning new things all the time. I have personally learnt and acquired knowledge, joy and inspiration from her both personally and through this blog and I confident you would too.

Testimonials

For close to 20 years I have been in Florence life watching her grow from a student to a colleague and I can vouch on her extreme passion for supporting Children with difficulties in reading. Even with a clear focus on her core duties, she is also very kind hearted; strict but fair and equally religious. My testimony of her academic and religious prowess knows no bound

I have worked with Florence for the past ten years and speak in such a capacity. She is an educator with a heart of GOLD and has seen to the completion of many projects. She gives her all in everything she does and has on-the-ground practice with students and adults alike. As a student, I observed Mrs. Florence Mensah as, if not the only lecturer, but among the few lecturers who was always punctual to class and on time. Infact, the most impressive aspect of her career is her demeanour to grapple with students from diverse backgrounds. She is able to present information on a wide variety of topics, while projecting a composed presence, with a great sense of humour all the while maintaining a positive classroom environment. It's not just her teaching skills that impresses me, however, she is also affectionate for all, a counsellor, a mentor, a guide and an advocate for persons of all works of life. I find it worthwhile to state that her talent at teaching advanced topics and her ability to see every challenge as an opportunity for professional development makes her an ideal person. What excites me more about her astute personality and professional acumen is her ability to conduct seminars, workshops for teachers who work with students with reading difficulties in a long-term professional development which is tailored for promoting long lasting positive changes in teacher practice. It is within this premises that she will always be cited for the hope of our tomorrow young professionals.

I had the privilege of knowing Mrs Florence Mensah as a lecturer in the Department of Special Education at UEW since September 2013 when i enrolled to pursue Bachelor of Education and English. Under her tutelage, which was more practical and result-oriented, I benefited from her in-depth knowledge in clinical teaching of students with learning disabilities, especially when I did my internship program and national service at the Special Education Reading Resource Center and the University’s Library. There I acquired specialised knowledge and skills in reading assessment and instruction through her professional guidance and training earning me a well-positioned bases with knowledge, grounded in practice, in select informal assessment tools for assessing various components of reading with practical application in administering, scoring, analyzing and interpreting results. Personality traits such as integrity, leadership, creativity, empathy, perseverance and confidence apply strongly to her. In my view, Mrs Mensah is one of the few lecturers and educational clinicians I have came across. I therefore support and recommend her highly for any consultancy without any reservation.
