Mimi's Way

My Dear Man

My Dear Man, …

My DeaR maN,
Now that I listen closely I can clearly hear how Mama’s labor cries were a resounding ‘hurry and get on with it’.
Now that I look from a closeup angle I can clearly see how Dada’s first words to you were ‘you did well my son‘. What exactly did you do well. It’s not like you birth yourself. The crazy expectations taking roots from day one.
Now that I read with more attention I can clearly notice how the family released sighs and gasps of relief. ‘Oh, it’s a boy’.

My DeAr MAn,
Did they sight your young feeble shoulder sagging down ever so gently that it almost looked like you were gathering momentum to puff up your chest?
Did they notice how happiness suddenly became a taunting emotion teasing you every where you turned?
Did they realize how you kicked your legs in an outburst cry of ‘really! already!’ or did they just see it as a failed attempt of being cute and cooed at you calling you adorable?

My dEaR Man,
How easy it was for her to assume you were after her when you walked up to her. How easy it was for her to expect something from you. How easy it was for her friends to blame it all on you. After all you are the guy, it has got to be your fault. How easy it was for everyone to side with her pains, tears, and weakness but not yours. After all you are a guy, you have to endure it. ‘Be a man’. What even does that mean?

MY DEAR MAN,
My dear sir, my good boy, my good man, my good sir, my buddy, my pal, it will be alright.

My Dear Man,
it is ENOUGH, the WEIGHT you carry. I see it, it tires you but it will be worth it all.
